Crawford Swift has more than 150 year experience and specialising in Large capacity Lathes and recently Hi-Tech Friction Stir Welding machines.

The Powerstir 360 was developed with special attention paid to machine structural rigidity, resulting in the mechanics being able to withstand up to 10 tonnes force loading with minimum deflections.

Powerstir 360 offers far-reaching opportunities for joining aluminium alloys and other metals that have traditionally been difficult to weld conventionally without distortion of the material, cracks, voids or other blemishes.

The Powerstir 360 possesses advanced features including work piece probing for mapping plate (weld) edges; various configurations for closed loop welding and data logging for axis loading, feed rates and spindle speeds. The machine was christened Powerstir 360 as a reference to its three-axis CNC capability and 60 kW spindle.

Powerstir 360 shows the future of welding, with Crawford Swift’s patented, UK-built design setting standards for others to follow.
